From the Olds College Broncos
OLDS, Alta. — The Olds College Broncos Men’s Basketball program has added another major commitment to their 2021 recruiting class with the addition of St. Francis Xavier University transfer Nick McKee.
McKee arrives in Mountain View County after playing his first three years of eligibility for the storied Antigonish, Nova Scotia program under the tutelage of all-time winningest Canadian basketball coach Steve Konchalski. The Newmarket, Ontario native put together an impressive third year campaign for the X-Men where he shot an impressive 50% from the field while shooting 80% from the charity stripe.
McKee most recently suited up for the X-Men during the 2018-19 season, averaging 3.5 points and 2.0 rebounds per game over 17 regular season appearances.
Prior to arrive at St.FX, McKee played his high school basketball at Bill Crothers Secondary School in Markham, Ontario where he was a teammate of current Broncos Men’s Basketball student-athlete Austin Nzige-Nyambok. The 6’5″ forward put together an impressive statline as a member of the Colts, as he averaged 20 points per game to go along with 12 rebounds and 8 assists per game.
“What Nick brings to the table for us is experience. After playing alongside All-Canadian talent on a daily basis, he (Nick) will be able to bring a championship mentality and work ethic to the court on a daily basis and will serve as a great mentor to our younger guys as he shows them the ropes,” said Head Coach Harrison Corolis.
“In addition to all these positive character traits, Nick is going to be a force for us on the low block for us as he helps to shore up our front line on both the offensive and defensive ends,” added Corolis.
